Corrosion under insulation (CUI) is a severe form of localized external corrosion that occurs in carbon and low alloy steel equipment that has been insulated. CUI occurs as water is absorbed in the insulation, this exposure to water and oxygen causes the equipment to begin to corrode. This form of corrosion is common in refineries and processing plants where equipment is typically operated at high temperatures. Hi-Tech Overlay Group specializes in boiler and pressure vessel services and can repair the external surface of process vessels that have been the victim of corrosion due to CUI. We are able to complete these repairs quickly using our semi-automated and/or automated welding processes. Please contact us today to discuss your CUI issues, we are happy to help with a solution.
